Palestinian Refugees of 1948
The IHJR has worked with a team of Israeli and Palestinian scholars with the goal of exploring the role of memory and remembrance in Israeli and Palestinian communities in regard to the Palestinian refugees of 1948. Framed during three meetings in the first half of 2010, the project was constructed around a selection of pictures taken from Israeli archives concerning the events of 1948. Between October and December, Israeli and Palestinian third generation students from universities in Israel, the West Bank and the Netherlands were asked to comment on these photos. Six Israeli and Palestinian scholars then used the reactions of these students as the basis for their essays in the publication “Zoom In, Palestinian Refugees of 1948, Remembrances”.
