Guidebook to Nabi Samwil
A team of Palestinian and Israeli scholars have written a shared narrative of the Tomb of Samuel/Nabi Samwil, a site sacred to both Jews and Muslims, situated on a hill just outside Jerusalem. Today, the site is commonly known (particularly by Jews and Muslims) as the burial place of Samuel, the biblical prophet who is second to Moses in importance, whose life story and activities are told in the book I Samuel of the Bible, who also appears un-named in the Qur’an (2:47).
The thirty page guide is designed to serve as a “visitor’s guide” to this site just outside of Jerusalem. The next phase in this project involves translating the work into Arabic and Hebrew, publishing it as a joint Palestinian-Israeli guide and disseminating it within the region to relevant stakeholders.
